Reduce, Reuse and Recycle

Brown County Solid Waste Management District

Serving & Preserving Our Brown County

The District is a government agency that was  established in 1991 to serve all of Brown County, Indiana, including Nashville and Cordry Sweetwater.

Our mission is to reduce the amount of recyclable materials going to landfills and educate the public about waste reduction, reuse, and recycling, and to implement programs in these areas.

Our goals include:

· Reducing waste going to final disposal (landfill or incinerator)

· Educating the public to value waste reduction above reuse; reuse above recycling; recycling above proper disposal; and proper disposal above improper disposal

· Encouraging the manufacture and purchase of recycled content products

· Minimizing taxpayer expenses while maximizing taxpayer benefits

· Minimizing  environmental blight and health risks

· Making recycling convenient and broadening the range of materials accepted for recycling

· The following pages contain information about the District’s programs and how you can participate. If you have any questions or suggestions, please  call the District’s office (812) 988-0140 and we will be happy to assist you.
