Recycling Center Office Hours

Monday – Friday · 8 am – 4 pm

Office and Nashville bins closed weekends and holidays


Outside bins at the Nashville Recycling Center available

9 am Monday – 3 pm Friday

and until 3 pm the day before a county holiday 


Satellite bins around the county remain open 24/7

Do you take batteries?

Yes, we take car batteries and most other batteries but no alkaline batteries.  They are not recyclable and are landfill friendly.  Learn more about batteries.

Do you take scrap metal?

Yes, scrap metal can be dropped off at our central location in town which is 176 Old State Road 46 in Nashville during normal business hours. For larger items please ask for assistance. 

Do you take appliances?

Yes, however there is a $20 fee for any appliance with freon. That includes freezers, water coolers, refrigerators and air conditioners.

Do you take TV sets?

TV sets are only accepted during our Electronics Day events which are announced well in advance. Check our events calendar or list of private recyclers for other options.

What can I do with latex paint?

Rinse or dry out the can and recycle it. Latex paint is not hazardous to the environment.

What can I do with old tires?

Tires are accepted only during our annual scheduled Tire Recycling Event. Check our events calendar or see our list of private recycling companies.

What can I do with old motor oil?

We cannot accept used motor or cooking oil. To dispose of used motor oil, contact Brown County Tire.

Do you take bagged trash?

Bagged trash is accepted at the Nashville Recycling Center only. The cost $2 per bag up to a 55 gallon bag and accepted during normal business hours. Cash only please.

Do you take mattresses, furniture or building materials?

No. Please see our list of private waste disposal companies that serve Brown County.

Do you take styrofoam?

No, styrofoam is not recyclable. Please dispose of in your household trash.

Do you take plastic grocery bags?

No. However, they can be recycled at stores like Walmart, Kroger and Meijer.
